Background: VMware Cloud Director provides extensive Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization capabilities. These powerful capabilities are powered by VMware NSX, an industry leading product in Cloud Networking. These capabilities provide enhanced connectivity, flexibility, and augmented secure access to IT workloads running on CloudConnect.
Process: Core Network capabilities include:
- Creation of OrgVdc Networks (VXLAN logical switches), which provide high performance low-latency networking to virtual machines, including VM to VM connectivity and routed connectivity to external networks.
- Creation of IPSec Site-to-Site VPN Tunnels, which securely connect OrgVdc Networks to on-premise, external, co-located, or third-party Cloud networks.
- Deployment of Three-Pronged DMZ Networks, to isolate edge workloads from internal corporate networks.
- The ability to Forward specific Ports and Protocols from the Public Internet to web services running in a Virtual Machine on VMware Cloud Director.
