Accessing a Citrix Virtual Desktop from a PC

Last Updated:

Background: Generally, end users will connect to their Virtual Desktop via the Citrix Workspace app. Ensure you have the latest version of the Long Term Service Release, as this is the most stable version of the app that is supported by CloudConnect.

Process:

After downloading the Citrix Workspace app, navigate to the CloudConnect Citrix Logon Portal and enter your credentials

If this is the first time you're connecting to the CloudConnect platform, you will see this prompt. Click "Detect Receiver" and your Citrix Workspace app should be detected automatically.

Note: Alternatively, you can click the "Use light version" hyperlink at the bottom to view the Citrix Desktop in a browser. Be aware that this option does not offer optimal performance.

Your Citrix Receiver will then be detected. This screen should be bypassed automatically. If it is not, you can use the "Download" button to download the necessary app

Choose the desktop you'd like to access

Note: If the error message "Cannot start desktop" appears, please submit a support ticket.

The desktop will launch

Congratulations, you're done!

Applies to: End users and resellers looking to access their virtual machines through Citrix.

Additional Notes: Utilizing the CloudConnect platform does not require Citrix. VPN tunnels can be set up from on-premise networks to cloud servers, a CloudConnect partner can host their own RDS gateway portal, etc. However, Citrix is the industry leader in desktop virtualization: any virtual machine running Citrix will have vastly superior end-user performance comparatively to an RDS connection.
